  • Won the worst battle, THE BATTLE FOR LIFE with her struggle fighting cancer.

  • Won a Scholsatic Magazine Contest in 2000 for describing the newest movie (at the time) Holes. She won a Holes DVD. We were so excited! 2000.
  • Won a Pen Show sponsored essay contest in 2003 for the title: My New York Moment. Alexandra wrote about the moment she met Harry Potter at the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban World Premiere at Radio City Music Hall. To view her essay click on the link below. 2003.

  • Alexandra won another Pen Show sponsored essay contest in 2004 for the title: My Best Friend. Alexandra wrote about her best friend, her Mom. Alexandra considers all of her family some of her top best buds because we are always there for her. 2004.

  • Alexandra won three poetry contests in 2002-2005 for: www.poetry.com The poems featured "Things I Had Seeked" and "Flying on a Plane."
  • In 2005 Alexandra won an essay sponsored by the Scandinavian East Coast Museum for the title: What My Life Would Be Like If I Was a Viking. The prize was Alexandra being able to ride on the Viking Ship float in the Scandinavian Day Parade. 2005.
  • Alexandra won a Bay Ridge Community Council essay contest in 2006 for the title: What Makes Me Smile. She wrote about Michael Romano and how he made her smile in the hospital and outisde it. 2006.
  • Alexandra's science project was choosen as one of the Top 3 Science projects eligible for winning in her class of 28 students in 2006.
  • Alexandra worked in fifth grade on a website about Cancer with school and her friends. The girls' website was awesome! The site was titles "Cancer Chaos" Please view it @ www.tqnyc.org/NYC062662 2006.
  • At her fifth grade graduation, Alexandra recieved eight certificates for Outstanding Achievement in: Math, Reading,Writing, Technology,and recieved the Exclesior Award for overcoming a physical disability, A Best of Brooklyn Award, and a School Spirit Award. 2006.

  • Alexandra was recently accepted into the prestigious Julliard School of Music in July 2007 and takes lessons on the clarinet there each Saturday! .2007.
  • Alexandra recently recieved a Gold Medal in Amputee Skiing while racing down Pocono Raceway half-way at Camelback during Amputee Ski Camp 2008. Alexandra recieved the Gold Medal for Female 3-track skiing with a combined time of 1:34! Thank you PCAS,Peter, Loretta, Isabel, Barbara, One Legged John, Mau, Ernie, Pat, Mark, Jeff, Jim, Scott and Amy! .2008.
  • While at Amputee Ski Camp 2008 at Camelback Ski Resort, Alexandra succesfully skied down Cliffhanger.....a double black diamond trail, without falling!! Thank you Stephanie, Ernie and Barbara for helping Alexandra! .2008.

  • Alexandra recently won a trip to the Paralympics in Beijing through the U.S Paralympic Academy in a sports and writing contest. 2008.

  • Alexandra was one of the winners of the "A Playwright Grows in Brooklyn: Youth One Act Festival" held by the BrooklynONEtheater. The contest chose five one act plays submitted by kids and will perform the plays. Alexandra wrote about her trip to China in September 2008. May 2009.

  • Alexandra made it to the finals of the "Senator for a Day" New York State Competition held by Senator Marty Golden. May 2009.
